Statistics show 17% of Queensland road fatalities involve driver fatigue. A review of the literature has shown OSA treatment is significantly improving fatigue, daytime sleepiness and lack of energy. read more
Insomnia May Shrink the Brain Chronic insomniacs losing out on sleep may also be missing brain matter. For the first time, brain imaging has linked chronic insomnia to lower gray matter density in areas that regulate the brain's ability to make decisions and to rest. The research could lead to new treatment plans for people who struggle with sleeplessness. read more

WORLD SPIROMETRY DAY
To help support this global campaign for the prevention of respiratory diseases, Thoracic and Sleep Group offered free Lung Function testing within the Wesley Hospital on Thursday, 14th October.
Approximately 70 people had their lung health checked, with approximately 25% of those requiring further testing. We were pleased as a group that we were able to alert people of their potentially damaged lungs and steer them on the pathway of treatment. Read more...

The Thoracic and Sleep Group QLD (TSGQ), were pleased to be involved with this year’s Wesley Hospital Clinical Week. Our team of medical specialists, scientists, nursing staff assisted our Marketing Manager in our first year as a sponsor. PUCKER UP FOR PH
TSGQ Staff and attending doctors of the Wesley Clinical Weekend supported the global awareness campaign for Pulmonary Hypertension, ‘Pucker Up for PH’. This initiative to globally raise awareness of PH by aiming to break the world record for the most lip prints collected. The aim is 40,000 and we were proud to contribute 20 lip prints to this cause.
